Sorata is a town perched in the middle of hills, between the high plateau of the Altiplano and the Amazonian plains.

Located at 2670 meters in height, it has a green vegetation which suit to a climate more moderate than in the lower yungas (Coroico, Chulumani) where the tropical climate can be stifling.

Sorata is the ideal point of departure of numerous walks and trekkings in the region.
